ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

What is ADHD? 

  • ADHD is a disorder that indicates a child or young person has difficulty with focus & concentration, sitting still, staying in one place for any length of time and becoming easily distracted

  • People with ADHD have an abundance of energy and can often say or do things impulsively, without considering the consequence

  • It is incredibly difficult for people with ADHD to control their behaviour

  • Research currently does not conclude where ADHD comes from, however, there is some evidence that family history can have an impact

Things you might notice in a person with ADHD: 

  • Feeling restless

  • Talking a lot and interrupting others

  • Easily distracted - “bored” easily

  • Fidgeting, unable to sit still

  • Impatient, unable to wait

  • Impulsive behaviours
